Which Electric Rain product did you use for this site?
Seth: Swift 3D v5
What real world problem did 3D help solve?
Seth: Some people aren't able to imagine things as well, so I provided the site visitors with a visual representation with their exact specifications.
What were your goals in creating this site?
Gun lovers also love their safes. So I designed this site to enable users to create their safe and visualize it before they made the purchase. Whenever someone makes a significant investment, more time is spent researching and making sure they get exactly the product that they want.
How did Swift 3D help you meet these goals?
Swift 3D allowed me to export a *bunch* of different configurations so as the site visitor makes certain specifications, they can see the model as they wish it to be designed. In other words, this microsite allows the visitor to step into the shoes of designer and build the safe they want.
Which Product Features were the most benefitial?
I built each element in Swift 3D based on photos and objects I had from the client. After everything was in place I was able to create different sizes, colors, finishes, accessories and textures. Finally I rendered out each of these as transparent png files so they could be easily imported and displayed in Flash. It saved me a lot of time to have so many different presets and textures. I don't do a lot of 3D work in other software, but I liked how easy Swift 3D makes it to do what you need quickly.
What additional software did you use?
My trusty sketchbook (softcover), Flash, Illustrator and Photoshop
What was the benefit to yourcompany?
Swift 3D was simple enough to learn but capable to do the job. It was great for our company to be able to complete the project.
Do you have any future projects using Swift 3D in the works?
Creating visual representations to explain more complex scenarios.
Comments:
Thanks for a great product. The client has been thrilled with the results. Their investment for this web tool has paid for itself many times over. I'm looking forward to the next site which will be even better.
